SPINNING WAS OUR NORMAL.
Each of us rode our own merry-go-round complete with work, adventure, obligations, and hundreds of other details filling in the gaps. The carnival songs in our heads convinced us to hang on tight because life was supposed to be both fun and fulfilling. No time for dizziness.
THEN A VIRUS FORCED US TO GET OFF THE MERRY-GO-ROUND.
For weeks we stood still. Life became simpler. Quiet. All unnecessary details cancelled.
Now the merry-go-round is slowly starting to turn again. We look back with conflicting emotion. Missing connection to people and places that made us happy, yet wondering how we ever rode such a wild, spinning pace.
Most carousels have a few benches. It’s a place to sit still while the surrounding beasts move up and down in rapid motion. The bench is an excuse to take a time out. To notice others around you. An opportunity to put your arm around someone and just enjoy the moment. It’s a bit of calm within the storm of our overstimulating lives.
As we climb back on our merry-go-round, let’s bring some WISDOM TO OUR WHIRL. Lessons learned and shifted priorities that’ll help us find a better balance in that dizzy space. A confirmed sense of joy - where to find it and what matters most. A new, better “normal” with a little less spinning.
Yep . . . SEE YOU ON THE BENCH.
