It was a HARD HIKE.
Emotionally my mind was wrestling with issues and worries in life. As my tired legs and lungs pulled me up the final, steep ascent, two hikers noticed me fighting my way up the trail.
The two gentlemen separated - one on each side of the trail to let me through and said “it’s like the parting of the Red Sea.” The biblical metaphor caught my attention and I stopped and looked directly at the hiker.
“See,” he continued, “there really is greatness in the world.”
I thought about that profound statement all the way down the mountain.
GREATNESS.
Yes there is greatness and beauty in the earth around us.
Yes I know God is great.
But that greatness is also evident in each one of us.
How many of our small, inspired acts have a GREAT impact on those in our path?
Hundreds? Thousands?
Like innumerable drops forming a lifted wall of water, the sum of it defines GREATNESS whether from God’s hands or yours.
Surely we can open our hearts and minds to recognize and feel God‘s GREATNESS in all its many forms whether it’s a literal or figurative parting of the Red Sea.
