THE NEW LOOK OF KINDNESS

This looks like RUDENESS.
Back turned. Few words spoken. Barely a glance.

In all my years of hiking, I’ve never seen such reaction by fellow hikers along the trail.
Rude? Think again.
It’s KINDNESS.

We’re all adjusting to a new normal. Allowing an acceptable space. Somehow keeping a distance while striving to stay physically active. An awareness that when we speak we “spray.”
It’s not just happening on hiking trails. It’s in grocery store isles, gas stations and community mailboxes.

How do we navigate this without feeling ignored, offended, and disregarded?
RECOGNIZE it as KINDNESS.
It’s loving neighbors and strangers enough to take precautions. Embracing a small part in a worldwide effort. And finding compassion in what USED to look like antisocial behaviors.

We can do this with patience and perspective. And if we change our attitude of HOW WE LOOK AT IT, it will change how we FEEL.
Because nothing feels better than a good dose of “new normal” KINDNESS.
